APCMA 2014 Submissions Now Open

Attention all artists! The 2014 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards has opened its doors to submissions. 

The Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, aka the annual celebration of Aboriginal music and musicians, as voted by the public, will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, September 11th and 12th later this year. Now is the time to submit work in consideration for nomination.

The awards honours the best blues, country, gospel, rock, pop and rap albums, as well as single, songwriter, female entertainer and male entertainers of the year, and more, in what amounts to the biggest glitzy musical bash in Indian Country each year. Submit your work now!

The eligibility period is May 1, 2012 to April 30, 2014. Download the submission form and read all the rules at  aboriginalpeopleschoice.com. Deadline April 30, 2014, 5:00 P.M. Central.

2012 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards Performance Lineup

The complete performance lineup for the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards has been announced.

The 2012 awards broadcast will feature performances by Juno award-winning blues artist Murray Porter, pop-country singer Shy-Anne Hovorka, Indigenous supergroup Indian City and rockers Bruthers of Different Muthers, multi-instrumentalist Donny Parenteau, fiddle player Wesley Hardisty and renowned hoop dancer and flute player Dallas Arcand.

The APCMAs will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 1st and 2nd, 2012. For the seventh year in a row, the awards will be hosted by actor and director Lorne Cardinal.

Online voting for this year's awards closed earlier in September, but here is the full list of this year's nominees: APCMA Nominees 2012.

As CBC Manitoba reported earlier:

"This year's lineup truly brings to life what we're trying to showcase with the festival," said Gloria Spence in a news release. Spence is the general manager of Manito Ahbee, the festival that produces the awards.

At a press conference in Winnipeg this morning, the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award nominees were announced. Read the full list of nominees here.

Following a first round of industry votes, the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards (APCMA) announced the official nominees and opened the polls to public voting this morning. To vote for your favourite artists, go to aboriginalpeopleschoice.com. Voting closes September 3rd, and the awards take place November 1st and 2nd in Winnipeg.

Indigenous Live Music Picks: Nov. 3-6, 2011

This week, Winnipeg is the bustling centre of live Indigenous music with the Aboriginal People's Choice Music Awards, Aboriginal Music Week and Manito Ahbee festival happening simultaneously.

Derek Miller, Winnipeg's Most, Leela Gilday, Local Onlyz, Gabriel Ayala, Samian, Ali Fontaine - the list goes on of the fantastic artists you can catch during Aboriginal Music Week. The votes have been tallied and finally the results will be announced! The Aboriginal People's Choice Music Awards take place Thursday and Friday night:

Thursday November 3 - RBC Ohshkii Awards Night at Fort Garry Place, 222 Broadway Ave, Winnipeg, MB, 6pm.

Friday November 4 - Red Carpet starts at 6pm, the Aboriginal People's Choice Music Awards starts at 7pm at the MTS Centre, 300 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, MB.
